Our Beginning
Coming Together
Our journey started in April of 2025, the team was finishing up the fourth semester of the Electrical Engineering Renewable Resources program at Camosun College. We agreed that we would team up to work on a Capstone project together. We were unsure about what that project would be at the time, but later on that summer we all agreed that a MIDI controller is a great project to work together on.
Proto-Board
Once we agreed on a project we began a scaled down prototype to test the functionality of the parts involved. We built this smaller board to test out the touch sensors and begin the coding process.
Concept Art
Early on in the project, we created a concept for our project. Some things have changed over the development process, but some things have stayed. Overall we are happy with where we ended up.
Test PCB
We designed a test PCB to try out different styles of keypads and to test the our code against new physical hardware. We designed this before designing the final PCB design.
Final PCB Design
After we were able to discern which style of touch pad worked best, we started designing the final PCB. These images are of the top and bottom. As you can see, the touch pads, sliders, and XY pad are all incorporated into the PCB design.
