PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD

A Printed Circuit Board (PCB) is a flat board that holds and connects electronic components, providing the foundation for electrical circuits. In our product, the PCB connects our components to the power supplied by the vehicle. To ensure compatibility with most OBD2 compliant vehicles, our PCB is designed to reduce electrical noise while maintaining a sleek, compact form.

COMPONENTS

To interact with a vehicle, our product relies on several key components. The ESP32 Microcontroller handles the logic for sending and receiving data, while a Controller Area Network (CAN) bus interface translates the communication between the ESP32 and the car’s systems. Additionally, a switching regulator steps down the car’s 12V power supply to 5V to power our components.

ENCLOSURE

To protect our PCB and components from the elements, we developed a custom enclosure for our product. We designed the enclosure to be as small as possible, carrying over the sleek, compact design of our PCB, ensuring that it is spatially compatible with all cars and does not interfere with the vehicle or driver. The case is 3D printed using PLA, a material made from renewable, organic sources such as corn starch or sugar cane.
