Reel Wheel is equipped with hall effect sensors and a rotary encoder that will track the downrigger line-out distance and measure its angle relative to the water. Designed to fit Scotty downriggers, the Reel Wheel is a modification added to the existing pulley wheel located at the end of the boom.

Reel Wheel Junction Box

The Reel Wheel Junction Box is waterproof enclosure that houses the wires connections and holds the rotatory encoder

Reel Wheel Pulley Plate

The Reel Wheel Pulley wheel is fitted with a magnetic array that rotates as line is let out. The rotations are tracked by hall effect sensors fitted on the outside of the enclosure

Rotary Encoder

A rotary encoder provides  high precision measurements giving the angle of the downrigger line relative to the water.

Shaft

The 3D-printed shaft connects and locks securely between the boom and the encoder without slipping.

Reel Wheel Pulley

Reel Wheel pulley is a reimagining of the standard downrigger pully cover to allow for the integration of hall effect sensors. A magnet array is then mounted on the pulley wheel to track the rotations.

Four magnets give the RDB line length precision to the quarter rotation of the pulley.

Hall Effect Sensors
