Three Tenets that guided our decisions

From the beginning of our project, we aimed to restore Camosun College's Panthera pinball machine to working order while preserving its authentic retro feel. We incorporated modern and efficient technology where possible, ensuring every change aligned with one of three core principles: Authenticity, Customizability, and User-Friendly.

Customizability

The LISY80 board, powered by pinMAME software and a Raspberry Pi Zero, allow us to run the original Panthera ROMs while enabling custom rule sets and sounds. With its numerous redundant pins, the board provides future users the flexibility to add new features and expand functionality.

Authenticity

We carefully chose each component to capture the essence of the original game. Warm-toned LEDs replicate the glow of the original lamps, while modern replacements enhance performance without compromising authenticity.

User Friendly

We restored the wiring to its original configuration, clearly labeling each wire, component, and switch to match the machine's manual. By prioritizing clarity and organization in our design, we have made the Panthera pinball machine more accessible and user-friendly for future projects.
